Pavel Dvořák, Chairman of the Council of the Czech Telecommunication Office
Born 11 July 1948 in Pelhřimov. Studied at the Mathematic/Physical Faculty of the Charles University in Prague, graduated from the Philosophical Faculty of the Charles University (M.A., sociology) and achieved a PhD grade (data banks) at the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences.
He spent a major part of his career in the Federal Statistical Office, focusing on the issues of the statistical processing of data and on information technology applications. In the 1990s he worked for information technology companies, such as APP, ICZ. In 1998-2002 he was adviser to Minister of the Czech Government. He co-authored the State Information Policy and took part in drawing up the information society legislation. From 2003 to 30 April 2005 he worked as advisor to management bodies of ČESKÝ TELECOM, a.s. From 1 May 2005 he has been member of the CTO Council. From 1 April 2006 he has been named as the Chairman of the CTO Council and from 27 April 2009 he was again confirmed in his function by the Government of the Czech Republic.
Further education: a number of courses in the area of information and communication technologies.
His hobbies include orchid growing and oenology.
Jana Fürstová, Member of the Council of the Czech Telecommunication Office
Born 27 June 1942 in České Budějovice. She graduated from the Prague University of Economics and in 1969-90 she worked at the Federal Pricing Office. In 1990-91 she held the position of the Deputy Director of the Price Department at the Federal Ministry of Finance; in 1992-1998 she worked subsequently as the Director of the Price Department, the Chief Director and the Deputy Minister of Finance of the Czech Republic. From 1998 to 30 April 2005 she held the positions of the Chief Director and Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic.
Her main professional focus is on prices - regulation of the prices of natural monopolies (energy, telecommunications, postal services and transport). She also focuses on the issues of public assets, economic competition and public finance - national budget. She is an authorised expert with specialisation in regulated prices in network industries. From 21 May 2008 she has been member of the CTO Council.
Further education: Postgraduate study of "Pricing Theory" at the Prague University of Economics (1978) and a course on the "Role of the State in the Market Economy" in France in 1990.
She is the author of Act No. 526/1990 Coll., on Prices and Act No. 151/1997 Coll., on the Valuation of Assets. She writes articles and technical texts on the issues of the regulation of prices and rent in professional and daily press.
Her hobbies include classical music, literature and tourism.
Petr Štěpánek, Member of the Council of the Czech Telecommunication Office
Born 7 June 1958 in Hradec Králové, where he studied at the J.K. Tyl Gymnasium (High School) and the Pedagogical Faculty of the University of Hradec Králové (Magister degree).
In the 1980s he was a free-lance musician playing with various rock bands. He authored about two hundred songs. After 1989 (the Velvet Revolution) he has also been a journalist. Early in the 1990s he took part in establishing private regional television broadcasting in the East-Bohemian RTR television; later he became editor in the Czech Television. He publishes articles in the press and on the Internet, focusing on media issues and on political commentaries.
He is the author of six books: Na všechno buď připraven! [Be Prepared for Everything!] (Kruh, Hradec Králové 1991); Prezident na půl úvazku [A Part-time President] (IRMA, Praha 1993), Ukradená televize aneb Co na obrazovce nebylo [Stolen Television or What Was Not on Screen] (Votobia, Praha 2003), Válka o Novu [The War for the Nova TV] (Formát, Praha 2005), Plnou ParouBack [Full SteamBack*] (CEVRO, Praha 2006), Špinavá hra (Altyn, 2008).
In 1994 he was the press secretary to the then Prime Minister Václav Klaus. In 1994–2006 he was a member and Deputy Chairman of the Broadcasting Council and in 2003–2006 a private media consultant. From 15 November 2006 he has been member of the Council of the Czech Telecommunication Office.
His hobbies include music, literature, tourist cycling and skiing.

Zdeněk Švrček, Member of the Council of the Czech Telecommunication Office
Born 18 March 1956 at Čeladná near Frýdek-Místek. He studied and graduated from the Technical University in Zvolen. His other qualifications include, inter alia, a year-long management course organised by the Czech Ministry of Labour and Trade (1990).
He held a number of positions at Dřevokombinát Vrbno pod Pradědem including its production technology management.
In 1992 he was elected a member of the Czechoslovak Federal Assembly – the Chamber of Nations – and was a member of its Economic Committee.
In 1996–2002 he was a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. He was a member and later Vice-Chairman of the Telecommunications Subcommittee (until 2002), rapporteur for the Telecommunications Act, a member (from 1996) and chairman (from 1998 to 2002) of the Permanent Working Group for Aviation, and a member of subcommittees for Transport (1996-2002), Trade and Tourism (1998-2002), and Energy (1998-2002).
In 1998–2003 he was a member of the Supervisory Board of Český Telecom a.s.
He has been a member of the Council of the Czech Telecommunication Office from 1. July 2007.
His hobbies include aviation, swimming, cycling, literature, tourism and gardening.
Milan Šimonovský, Member of the Council of the Czech Telecommunication Office

Born on 17 February 1949 in Brno where he gets his degree at the Faculty of Civil engineering at the Brno University of Technology.
In the years 1973–1990 he worked as a transport systems designer on planning documents for the town Brno and its conurbation.
In the year 1990 he was elected for the first time as Deputy Mayor of the town Brno and had been working in this position until the year 2000.
During the period 2000–2006 he exercised the function of a senator for district 59 Brno-town.
In the year 2002 he was appointed as Minister of Transport and Communications of the Czech Government and in the year 2003 continued his work as Minister of Transport. Since the year 2005 he held the position of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport.
In the year 2006 he was elected a MP for South Moravia region and became Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Economic Affairs of the Chamber of the Deputies.
In the Chamber of the Deputies he focused on the area of the electronic communications and transport.
Mr. Šimonovský has been member of the Council from the 1 May 2009.
His hobbies include sport and culture.
Marek Ebert, Executive Deputy of the Chairman of the CTO Council
and Regulation Section Director
He was born 25 November 1963 in Jablonec nad Nisou. He graduated from the University of Transport and Communications in Žilina, Slovakia, faculty of Operation and Economics of Transport and Communications, specialization of Communications Operation and Economics.
He has been working for the CTO in the head positions, chiefly in the area of the electronic communications networks and services regulation. Nowadays he is an Executive Deputy of the Chairman of the CTO Council and simultaneously he is a Director of the Regulation Section.
His hobbies include sports, family and country living.
