Within the context of its co-operation with the OECD, Office is represented in the Working Group for Telecommunications and Information Services Policies (WG TISP), whose work is primarily focused on encouraging exchange of experience among OECD member countries, monitoring current developments in the telecommunications and information policies area, supporting the development of information infrastructure, and analysing the economic and social aspects of the telecommunications markets of the OECD countries.
The items under the discussion nowadays in the framework WG TISP are the development of broadband technologies, development of wireless local-area networks (WLAN), voice transmission via Internet Protocol (VoIP) and voice transmission via WiFi technologies and their integration with mobile networks.
The Office is regularly handing over the information and statistical data concerning the telecommunications area which serve as basic materials for publishing of the OECD Communication Outlook document. This document offers general information about utilisation of new technologies in the telecommunications area and provides documentation of the development of the telecommunications sector of the OECD countries.
