PRESS RELEASE: CTU and AT&T are hosting the second V4 Hackathon

Prague, 13 March 2017 – Developers will create new applications in just 24 hours within the second Central European V4 Hackathon event. Teams will compete on April 7-8, 2017 in Brno.

 

Winners will split cash prizes valued at approximately $20,000. The first place winner will receive $10,000; the second place winner will receive $2,000; and the third place winner will receive $1,000. The Czech Domain Name Registry – CZ.NIC – will provide a $1,000 kicker prize for “Best Use of Open Source.” In addition, five contestants selected at random will each receive a scholarship for online Nanodegree courses valued at $2,000. Winning teams will also receive mentoring from Credo Ventures and Y Soft Ventures.

Competitors may develop new apps under any of the following categories:

  • Smart Cities

Help cities use technology to better serve their citizens. Areas could include first responders, public health, public safety, security, traffic and transportation.

  • Healthcare

Allow physicians, medical administrators, or home providers to improve care experiences through automation of common tasks needed to provide medical or rehabilitative care.

  • Sustainability

Bring automation to efforts that enable meaningful social and environmental benefits. From connecting students or classrooms to helping preserve natural resources.

  • Home

Create home automation solutions elated to security, child or senior safety, or real-time monitoring.

  • Open Data

Use open data provided by the Czech Republic’s public administrations to better serve citizens, or interpret and make visualization of the various open data files.
