Blocking of disinformation – Amendment to the Regulation

In connection with the issue of the directly effective Council Regulation (EU) 2022/350 amending Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 concerning restrictive measures in view of Russia's actions destabilising the situation in Ukraine, CTU informed about the obligation to prohibit the dissemination of content created or broadcast by the entities listed in Annex XV of this Regulation here and in the monitoring report.

Following the previous information, CTU notes that the European Union published in its Official Journal the "Sixth EU Sanctions Package" on 3 June 2022, which tightens the EU's restrictive measures (international sanctions) against Russia and Belarus. The EU, inter alia, published Council Decision (CFSP) 2022/884 and Council Regulation (EU) 2022/879 amending Council Decision 2014/512/CFSP and Council Regulation (EU) 833/2014. These regulations are effective from 4 June 2022.

These regulations extend the list of entities listed in Annex XV to include Rossiya RTR/RTR Planeta, Rossiya 24/Russia 24 and TV Centre International.

There is also a new prohibition on advertising of products or services in content created or broadcast by Annex XV entities.
