PRESS RELEASE: Monthly Monitoring Report No. 07/2019

Prague, 12 July 2019 – The Council of CTU is complete again. Josef Bednář, member of the Council, whose mandate ended in May, was substituted by Lukáš Zelený, who assumed the office on 1 July. Lukáš Zelený previously worked as an executive of legal department of the consumer association dTest and was appointed by the Government of the Czech Republic as a member of the Council of CTU for 5 years. The monitoring report further focuses on the topic of net neutrality. CTU published a report on results of monitoring of compliance with Regulation (EU) 2015/2120 of the European Parliament and the Council of 25 November 2015, laying down measures concerning open Internet access, carried out between 1 May 2018 and 30 April 2019. In the reference period, CTU ascertained faults mainly in the lack of transparent information on the quality of provided service, whether in form of incomprehensible identification of its parameters or unclear definitions of terms. The end-users then encounter difficulties when ascertaining, whether the service is provided in agreed quality.

The monitoring report also informs on CTU’s process in case of regulation of mobile services market. CTU sent the Three criteria test as formal notification to the European Commission.
