Types of certificates

Information in blue are valid only until 31 August 2019.

Information in red are valid from 1 September 2019.

  1. General certificate for radio operator for an aeronautical mobile service – VFL
    authorises its holder to operate aircraft stations, aircraft terrestrial stations, aeronautical stations and aeronautical terrestrial stations

  2. Restricted certificate for radio operator for an aeronautical mobile service – OFL
    authorises its holder to operate aircraft stations, aircraft terrestrial stations, or aeronautical stations running on frequencies allocated exclusively to aeronautical mobile service or aeronautical mobile satellite service, if the handling of station lies only in operation of simple external handling features. No flight operation services can be provided during operation of aeronautical stations.

  3. General certificate for operator of a maritime mobile service (GOC)
    authorises its holder to operate marine stations and coastal stations running on very high frequencies GMDSS on SOLAS ships (with condition of mandatory equipment of GMDSS system). The certificates is issued in compliance with Radiocommunication rules of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Decision CEPT ERC/DEC(99)01 and STCW Convention 1978 as amended (provision IV/2). Usually, this certificate is demanded by (future) professional marine officers, who need to undergo a special practical training in controlling communication technologies under GMDSS system and prove vocational or technical education.

  4. Restricted certificate for operator of a maritime mobile service (ROC)
    authorises its holder to operate stations with system GMDSS in very high frequencies on SOLAS ships (with condition of mandatory equipment of GMDSS system) - usually, this certificate is demanded by (future) professional marine officers, who need to undergo a special practical training in controlling communication technologies under GMDSS system and prove vocational or technical education.

  5. General certificate for radio operator for a mobile radiotelephony service for maritime mobile service and inland waterways – VFN
    authorises its holder to operate marine stations or coastal stations in inland waterways or to operate marine stations of maritime mobile service which does not use GMDSS frequency band - usually, this certificate is demanded by (future) holders of certificate MD Czech Republic type "B" - Commander of marine yacht (up to 200 maritime miles from coastal line)

  6. Effective until 31.08.2019: Restricted certificate for radio operator for a mobile radiotelephony service for maritime mobile service in coastal waters and inland waterways – OFN
    authorises its holder to operate marine stations or coastal stations in inland waterways or to operate marine stations of maritime mobile service in coastal waters, if the handling of station lies only in operating simple external handling features – usually, this certificate is demanded by (future) holders of certificate MD Czech Republic type “C” – Commander of coastal yacht (up to 20 maritime miles from coastal line) or holders of certificate “Chief of small vessel” or “Rheinpatent”.

    Effective from 01.09.2019: Restricted certificate for radio operator of maritime mobile service – OFP
    authorises its holder to operate marine stations in maritime mobile service up to 20 maritime miles line from low-water mark recognized by coastal state, using only very high frequencies, without using GMDSS system features, if the handling of stations lies only in controlling simple external handling features. Usually, this certificate is demanded by (future) holders of certificate MD Czech Republic type “C” – Commander of coastal yacht (up to 20 maritime miles from coastal line) or holders of certificate “Chief of small and recreation vessel in section C – in coastal marine ways”.

  7. Certificate for terrestrial wireless operator – TEL
    authorises its holder to operate radiotelephone stations in high frequencies. Includes practical exam from telegraphy.

  8. HAREC certificate for class A operator: international validity
    authorises its holder to operate stations of radio amateur service in all selected bands with use of maximum allowed power.

  9. NOVICE certificate for class N operator: valid only within the Czech Republic
    authorises its holder to operate stations of radio amateur service in selected bands for this operator’s class with maximum allowed power of 10 W.

  10. General certificate for operator of a maritime mobile service – LRC
    authorises its holder to operate marine stations using all frequency bands of GMDSS system on non-SOLAS ships (voluntary selection from GMDSS features, including DSC system with which is equipped most of marine radio stations), which does not have to be equipped with GMDSS system. The certificate is issued in compliance with Radiocommunication rules of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and Recommendation CEPT ERC/REC 31-05. Usually, this certificate is demanded by (future) holders of certificate MD Czech Republic type “B” – Commander of marine yacht (up to 200 maritime miles from coastal line), who which to be holder of LRC certificates recognised in all Europe. Applicants must undergo special practical training in controlling communication technologies exclusive for LRC in GMDSS system.

  11. Restricted certificate for operator of a maritime mobile service (SRC)
    authorises its holder to operate maritime stations using frequency band of very high frequencies of GMDSS system used on voluntary basis in section A1, on non-SOLAS ships (GMDSS features also includes DSC system, with which most of the VHF maritime stations are equipped), without need to be equipped with GMDSS system. The certificate is issued in compliance with the Radiocommunication rules of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and Recommendation CEPT ERC/REC 31-04. Usually, this certificate is demanded by (future) holders of certificate MD Czech Republic type “C” – Commander of coastal yacht (up to 20 maritime miles from coastal lines) who wishes to hold SRC certificate recognised in all Europe. Applicants must undergo special practical training in controlling communication technologies exclusive for SRC in GMDSS system. SRC Certificate can be also used for operation of maritime stations in inland waterways.

  12. Effective from 01.09.2019: Restricted certificated for radio operator of inland waterways – OFV
    authorises its holder to operate maritime station in inland waterways within radio telephone service, if the handling of stations lies only in controlling simple external handling features. OFV certificate can be used for operation of maritime station in inland waterways of member states of RAINWAT. Usually, this certificate is demanded by (future) holders of certificate “Chief of small and recreation vessel” on waterways of the Czech Republic or in area I – on foreign inland waterways.
