Data collection 2018

The Czech Telecommunication Office (CTU) performed in 2019 via its Electronic data collection system (ESD) a broad data collection on the existing electronic communications networks infrastructure with focus on the identification of NGA connections allowing the provision of internet access service with the speed of 30 Mbit/s and higher, according to address points. The collected data refers to 31 December 2018.

2,248 undertakings (providers of Internet access service or providers of networks for such services) were asked to submit data to CTU. The data was received from 2,058 undertakings (i.e. 93%) and verified to 28 June 2019. Ca. 7% of undertakings submitted the date in non-verifiably form.

The results were submitted to Ministry of Industry and Trade (MPO) and further processing and use is fully in the competence of MPO, mainly for the purpose of defining the so called “regions for intervention”.

For information purposes, CTU presents coverage maps: „current state“ and „current state and outlook“.

Furthermore, CTU provides a complete table of colour marking of basic residential units (ZSJ) in different regions (refers to 28 June 2018). A total of 22,549 ZSJ was identified on the territory of the Czech Republic, out of which 17.86 % were identified as white, 6.36 % as grey and 75.78 % as black (data verified to 28 June 2018).

Also a complete table of all ZSJ in the Czech Republic can be found here, including the total percentage of coverage and number of undertakings active in the ZSJ.
