PRESS RELEASE: CTU Council Chair after the meeting with the Minister of Industry and Trade

Prague, 6 May 2022 – On 6 May 2022, the Czech Telecommunication Office (CTU) hosted a meeting between the Minister of Industry and Trade Jozef Síkela and the Council of the CTU. CTU has requested this meeting for a long time in order to acquaint the Minister with important issues and problems. After the short meeting, the CTU Council Chair, Hana Továrková, objected to the course of the meeting.

 "We were ready to acquaint the Minister in more detail with our agenda and with some of the current issues and problems affecting the Czech telecommunications market, including proposals for their solution. We did not expect the meeting to last several minutes during which we would not be allowed to speak at all. Unfortunately, the constructive debate for which we were prepared did not take place and the Minister more or less just repeated vague dissatisfaction without any specific arguments that could be substantiated. We do not believe that such a meeting would lead to possible positive changes in the Czech telecommunications market, for example in the sense of the desired price decrease in mobile data," Továrková said.
